Raintree members voted to have Southwestern Indiana Regional Council on Aging (SWIRCA) as the Hilighted Charity for the 2019 Quilt Show. Linda Bohlen has initiated a Salute to Service Project To Benefit SWIRCA.
For this project we will make 4 patriotic quilts to be given to lucky vets, servicemen or first responders at SWIRCA's annual Veterans Day celebration. Here’s how we’ll raise funds for SWIRCA. We will make and sell patriotic signature blocks. The buyer can “sign” with a thank you, the name of service personnel or other meaningful message. Here's a picture of a few blocks sewn together. Blocks will be sold at SWIRCA events and at the 2019 Quilt Show. Linda Bohlen |

Congratulations to our own Susan Young, the winner of the 2018 Raintree Quilters Guild Raffle Quilt!
We are also thrilled with the member participation in our ticket sales this year. We thank each of you who contributed to the success of our fundraiser. The guild raised $2078 in just 4 months! There was a three way tie for who sold the most tickets. Cheryl Knuckles, Chris Payne and Deb Weil each sold 60 tickets. Chris Payne was the recipient of a $20 gift certificate to Sew Tech after being the lucky winner of our tie breaker. Now we can all look forward to the 2019 raffle quilt being made by chairperson Michele Goodrich and her busy band of block makers. -Lisa Mathis |
81/8-11/10/2018 Ann Lainhart Classes -- Drawing can set you FREE!
In Ann Lainhart's classes you start by drawing....your design, your graph or whatever it takes to get from the germ of an idea to a scheme that will help you make your quilt. Making your own drawings allows you to make your quilt the design and size you want.
Lots to learn, lots of smiling faces! |
Barb Staub delivered Service Project quilts to several charitable organizations today. The charities included Holly's House, St. Lucas church where the Service Projects committee holds most of its work days and a few other RQG events have been held there as well, SWIRCA, where RQG holds its membership meetings, Ohio Township Library in Newburgh, where several traveling teacher classes and other events have been held, Albion Fellows Bacon Center, and Gilda's Club.
Raintree members might recognize a block or quilt top they made in the photos below. We use St. Lucas Social room often for Service Project quilt assembly plus they have a special fundraising event coming up for to help finance cancer treatment for a young lady. Float the pointer over photos to see the captions. |
