March 4 Raintree meeting presentation: "Turning Travel in to Treasures".
Turn your travel memories or passions into this free standing book. In this workshop, you'll learn how to transform your inspiration into a page, whether it's using a photo, words, applique or non-traditional technique. Each page measures 5"x7" and a book can have as many or as few pages as desired.
March 5 "Sewing with Silk" class, 9:30a to 4p
Have you been intrigued by the sheen and glamour of Dupioni Silk, but are afraid to work with it? Dupioni silk is a beautiful and multi-faceted fabric that adds elegance to any project. It can be stabilized so that it will behave like cotton. Cheryl will share her tips for working with it while each participant will design and construct a wallhanging out of half square triangles.
March 6 "Funkytown" class, 9:30a to 4p
Funkytown (54"x54") is a scrappy quilt created with Curvalicious. Use lots of fabric colors or use 2 for a dramatic effect. Lots of curves with no curved piecing! It's done using fusible web. Good for beginning fusers or more experienced fusers. It's composed of 16 blocks that are quick and easy to sew. More blocks, result in a bigger quilt! Learn how to use Curvalicious and about threads, machine tension and raw edge fusible applique'. And the big bonus is learn how to make an award style winning border that you're sure to use on many, many more quilts.
March 7 "Mini Mosaics" class, 9:30a to 4p
This is a fun no sew workshop that imitates the ancient art of mosaics, inspired by a trip to Israel. Learn how to create a mosaic picture from small pre-cut pieces of lots of colored fabric, using a technique that was developed to simplify the process. Pick one of the available patterns in class that will finish at 9"x12", and then can be bordered and quilted to your preference at home.
