Karla Kiefner

Now I’ve been known to include a piece of fabric turned with the backside out in my quilt, at least once I even did it purposely.  But I’ve never considered which side of the fabric to use as a significant design decision.  Karla Kiefner has!  She finds that backside of a fabric to often be just the right color and design to add to a quilt.  Now there’s something to consider.  See the underside of the arms of Pinky the Baby Octopus to the right.
Karla is a fabric designer, quilt pattern designer, has made herself a bit of an expert in Brodery Perse (cutting out elements of printed fabric, like flowers, and using them as applique components.  She will present a trunk show at our November meeting and a class to follow.

Her class will relate to auditing and use of reverse side of fabrics.  It will be on Thursday 9/8.  Time and place TBA.
